Each week, KNOM staff share a prayer: that we would “live life with courage and love for the people of our region,” and that “remembering all those who have helped to educate, guide, and foster us, as well as mentor and encourage us throughout our lives,” we would take the opportunity to do the same for others, in Western Alaska and around the world.

Remembering Les Brown, Legend and Friend

We mourn the loss of Les Brown, volunteer engineer and DJ, who passed on to the Lord in December. Les was a faithful friend to KNOM listeners for more than 50 years. He was a voice of companionship and mentorship.

Nome to fund apartments for people without housing

The City of Nome aims to have apartments ready for those currently homeless within
the next couple of years. They are pursuing funding that will provide upward of $675,000 for a complex of 15 studio apartments.

Mission strategizes for impact

KNOM’s board and staff have been on a journey of questioning long-held assumptions: What does the world need from us now? How can KNOM best meet the needs of Western Alaska, while remaining true to its mission?
