Engineer Van Craft continues to provide invaluable help to our mission, especially with refinements to our brand-new digital studios.

We’ve Only Just Begun

On July 14, KNOM celebrated its 45th anniversary — while, at the same time, continuing to work towards our intended autumn launch timeline for our brand-new digital studios.

Through a Glass, Brightly

Thanks to you, construction continues with the Tom and Florence Busch Digital Studios. The latest work involves the glass windows partitioning one room from another.

Making our new studios

The sounds of hammers, saws, and heavy equipment continues to echo throughout KNOM studios, as work on our studio annex – the Tom and Florence Busch Digital Studios – moves onward. In July, our diligent construction crew finished wrapping the outside of our new studios in Arctic-grade insulation. Considering that the site was a bare […]

Hazard averted

Last week, KNOM volunteer Eva DeLappe and volunteer engineer Rolland Trowbridge saved our radio studio. A GFCI outlet in an upstairs bathroom malfunctioned and began shooting sparks, scorching a nearby wall. Eva contacted Rolland, who turned off the electricity and replaced the outlet. Engineer’s corner: “Shake, shake, shake”

This link allows volunteers at […]

Work on our studio expansion project – the Tom and Florence Busch Digital Studios – has reached an important milestone! Thanks to your continued support, our dedicated construction crew has been able to complete the outside “box” of our annex: its floor, walls, and a sturdy, insulated roof, all of which can be seen, inside […]

A roof over our heads!

Our photo gallery is back this month, and as you’ll hopefully glean from the images above, work is continuing at an exciting pace for the Tom and Florence Busch Digital Studios! The new building, as readers may know, will be an annex to our existing building; it will be home to much-needed studio space and […]

Amid the deep winter, 5th graders take their turn in KNOM Studios

The frozen tundra sparkles with many shades of blue; the renewed sunlight shines across the snow covered landscape. The Bering Sea is covered with huge chunks of ice, pushed to the surface as the icepack shifts and thickens in subfreezing temperatures. Steam rises from exposed sea water. Last week, a local 5th grade class visited […]
