Alaska State Troopers (AST) are currently searching for an Emmonak man who escaped from custody Sunday.

According to a Trooper dispatch, 27-year-old Michael Redfox allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Saturday night and was then arrested by the village police officer (VPO).

According to AST public information officer Megan Peters, Redfox was able to escape from the VPO and run away into the woods. He was last seen at around 2 a.m. Sunday morning, and Troopers continue to search for him, “to make sure he is not in danger from the elements.”

Peters says Troopers suspect Redfox is receiving assistance from a community member and will investigate that crime if evidence is found.

Troopers are requesting public assistance in locating Redfox. Anyone with information about his location is encouraged to call the Emmonak Trooper post at 907-949-1300.
