Roy Agloinga To Join Council on Foundations’ National Philanthropy Cohort for 2018

Diane Kaplan, Rasmuson Foundation’s CEO and President, nominated Agloinga to be part of the 2018 Career Pathways cohort. For one year, Agloinga will participate in this program under the Council on Foundations, with the goal of developing professional networks and learning more about the potential of philanthropy.

Sergeant Dan Harrelson recently reached 25 years as the sole law enforcement figure in White Mountain. He’s one of only six VPSOs in the Bering Strait region, where 10 VPSO positions are currently vacant.

Iditarod to Tighten Race Trail Security, Rewrite “Gag Rule”

The Iditarod Trail Committee (ITC) is taking steps to tighten security along the race route in the near future. The move comes after October’s announcement that four dogs on four-time champion Dallas Seavey’s team tested positive for the prohibited painkiller tramadol at the end of the 2017 race.
GCI Expands High-Speed Broadband to Norton Sound Villages

Nearly 100 student wrestlers from around Western Alaska flew into Nome last weekend for the Nome Wrestling Invite. Athletes from larger teams like Nome, Kotzebue, and Bethel competed along with students from Gambell, Golovin, Savoonga, Shishmaref, St. Michael, and White Mountain.
