With NSEDC Contribution, Regional Wellness Center One Step Closer to Being Funded

On November 27th and 28th, NSEDC’s Board voted to provide millions in funds to a Norton Sound Health Corporation wellness center which will provide substance abuse treatment and detox services in Nome. Public relations specialist for NSHC Reba Lean says NSEDC’s $2 million donation will help fund the $14 million dollar multipurpose building.
Norton Sound Fisheries Net Record $6 Million in 2017

Norton Sound fishers earned $6.05 million in the commercial crab, salmon, and halibut fisheries this year, according to Norton Sound Seafood Products, which bought the fish.
NSSP Plant in Nome Violated Processing Discharge Permit, Agreement Reached with EPA

According to the EPA, during a 2016 inspection it was found that NSEDC’s Norton Sound seafood processing plant in Nome, violated the company’s seafood processing discharge permit. Tyler Rhodes says NSEDC has, “fully cooperated with the EPA in this matter…”

ANTHC Searching for Long-Term Solution Regarding St. Michael’s Frozen Water and Sewer Lines

After more than a month without sewer or water, both services are functional again in the community of St. Michael. But because of the amount of water required to thaw the entire system, services won’t be restored in full until the summer.
