Unofficial election results show incumbent Neal Foster of Nome leading Tyler Ivanoff of Shishmaref by one percent of the vote. Not all votes have been tallied yet, as zero have come in from Gambell so far.

Tyler Ivanoff, a 4th grade teacher in Shishmaref, is once again challenging Incumbent Neal Foster for the House District 39 seat in next week’s election. Ivanoff ran against Foster in the 2020 Primary Election, narrowly losing by about 5% of the vote.

Foster says he wants to remain in office to address some specific issues, including providing a full Permanent Fund Dividend, funding infrastructure and other critical services in Western Alaska, and limit the bycatch of salmon.

The unofficial results are in for the six seats, two on the Common Council, Utility Board, and School Board respectively. Nome voters also repealed Ballot Proposition One.
