Two Wales Men Lost At Sea in a Rowboat

Alaska State Troopers have identified two missing boaters from Wales as Timothy Miligrock and Damian Soolook.

According to Troopers, the first report of the two overdue boaters was received on Sunday around 5:30 in the morning. Miligrock and Soolook departed Wales at 2:30am in a rowboat that same morning and have not been seen since.

Since Sunday, the United States Coast Guard was leading search and rescue efforts with an HC-130 airplane crew, as well as an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew. As of Tuesday morning, the Coast Guard decided to suspend its search for Miligrock and Soolook.

After crews from a volunteer group, the Coast Guard air station in Kodiak, and the Sikuliaq research vessel searched for a total of 32 hours, they still found no trace of the boaters. The Coast Guard search and rescue crews covered more than 2,300 miles during their search.

According to a statement from the Coast Guard, neither 23-year-old Miligrock nor 14-year-old Soolook had life jackets or survival equipment with them.
