Hear from 2023 Iditarod finishers under the burled arch in Nome
KNOM Radio covered as many of the mushers in the small field of 33 as we could. By the time everyone finished, the final count was 29 teams completed the 51st running of the Iditarod.

Reigning Iron Dog champions, Tyler Aklestad and Nick Olstad, maintain a 30-minute lead on the second-position team in this year’s Iron Dog snowmachine race. The restart began in Nome at 6 a.m. this morning instead of the originally planned 8 a.m. restart.

The top teams departed Kotzebue this morning as they moved forward to Nome and the halfway point of the 2023 Iron Dog snowmachine race. Team 7 of Tyler Aklestad and Nick Olstad started this race in 16th position on Friday, Feb. 17, then moved into first after McGrath where they have held the lead since the evening of Feb. 18.
