Troopers Investigating String of Burglaries in Emmonak; At Least Two Juveniles Are Suspects

After a series of criminal mischief incidents over the weekend, Emmonak Troopers are further investigating at least two juvenile suspects in the community who may have been involved in two attempted burglaries.

According to Alaska State Troopers (AST), on Saturday, they were informed of a burglary at the Emmonak Company Store. Troopers say an unknown suspect or suspects broke a window and entered the store sometime that evening or early in the morning. The public information officer for AST, Megan Peters, says food was taken during that break-in.

Early Sunday morning, Troopers received a report of another burglary at the Emmonak Company Store in which two suspects were involved. Troopers say around 6am, the night-watchman on duty attempted to stop the suspects, but they got away without taking anything.

In a separate incident that same day, Troopers discovered that Emmonak’s AC store had been damaged by an unknown suspect or suspects. According to Peters, the damages to the AC store and Emmonak Company store were estimated at $2,000 for each building.

Peters says the suspects in the two burglary incidents are juveniles, and more information cannot be released. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact AST at (907) 949-1300.
