Nome Elementary School students put their creative and scientific minds to the test during its annual science fair. Over 20 students participated in the event, ranging from kindergarten through fifth grade.
“This is an awesome opportunity for those kids that are really academically minded, curious about science,” Principal Michele Carton said. “They love that [they] have a chance to showcase and talk about and present an area of interest to them.”
KNOM made a small contribution to help send the NES winner to the state science fair in Anchorage, and KNOM’s Community Relations Manager Quinn White had the opportunity to volunteer as a judge.
When it comes to a science fair, creativity counts. Quinn’s favorite project asked, “Who has more ear wax, cats or dogs?” (It’s dogs— good news for Quinn, who has a cat.)
