Last week, Alaska State Troopers in Nome were informed of a 50-year-old man contacting a teenage girl in Elim for sexual favors online.

According to Troopers, Herbert Barr Sr. of Elim knew the girl was 14 years old and was attempting to engage in sexual activity with her through the internet. On Friday, troopers from Nome arrested Barr at his residence. Troopers say at that time Barr admitted to his communication with the female minor.

Barr was remanded to AMCC for online enticement of a minor and distribution of child pornography. He is currently awaiting arraignment and is being held without bail.
