City Council Elects to Not Vacate Right-Of-Way, Moves Fiscal Year 2019 Budgets Forward
Before concluding Tuesday night’s meeting, the Council approved a resolution to increase the mill rate from ten to 11 for this calendar year (2018) and authorized the lease of municipal property to the Federal Aviation Administration for an eight-year period. One ordinance that didn’t pass would have vacated the right-of-way in block 96 of Tobuk Alley.

Nome’s Common Council could pass an amended ordinance to determine which vehicles meet the criteria of junk motor vehicles, while also limiting where they can be stored in town.

Councilman Stan Anderson requested that an ordinance limiting the hours of liquor sales and an ordinance for a ten percent excise tax on alcohol be kicked off the agenda. The Council unanimously approved, with the intention to bring them back after holding a work session on August 14th.
