Sullivan calls federal infrastructure package important for Alaska

On Aug. 10 of last year, Alaska Sen. Dan Sullivan joined Sen. Lisa Murkowski and 17 other Republicans, along with the Democratic Senate majority, to pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, known informally as “the federal infrastructure package.” Three months later, on Nov. 15, President Joe Biden signed the bill into law.

NSHC identifies hundreds of COVID cases in 4 days

COVID-19 cases continue to surge in the Norton Sound and Bering Strait region. Norton Sound Health Corporation identified 170 new cases of COVID-19 in the region Jan. 28-30, and another 106 cases on Jan. 31.

Pete Kaiser secures sixth K300 win in scratchless race

Pete Kaiser crossed the Kuskokwim 300 finish line at 7:59 Sunday morning, making him the 2022 K300 champion. Over 17 hours later, at 1:18 Monday morning, the race came to a close as John Snyder crossed the finish line in 16th place.

Nome Common Council prioritizes port and housing construction

The Nome Common Council voted on Jan. 24 to endorse four items to the Alaska legislature as part of the city’s Legislative Priorities Package. The package lets the state legislature know which projects the City of Nome wants the state to spend money on. It’s up to the state legislature, however, to decide which projects will actually receive state funding.
