Nome Common Council recognizes National Child Abuse Prevention Month

The Nome Common Council voted on April 4 to officially recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month. Mayor John Handeland asked City Clerk Bryant Hammond to read the entire text of the resolution aloud at the meeting, rather than just the title as usual, in order to emphasize its importance.

AHFC urges homeowners to apply for assistance by April 4

After multiple rounds of rent relief in 2021, the Alaska Housing Finance Corporation is now offering similar support to homeowners. The application period for AHFC’s Homeowner Assistance program began on March 14 and runs until 11:59 p.m. on the night of Monday, April 4.
