Community Curfew Remains in Effect as Stebbins Resident Contracts COVID-19

A new case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Stebbins. Norton Sound Health Corporation announced the latest patient with the virus tested positive yesterday.

Although NSHC did not identify the individual as a close contact of a previous case, the regional health corporation said the new case is likely related to earlier COVID-19 cases. Close contacts of the Stebbins resident have been notified already and are in the process of getting tested.

The community of Stebbins still has additional restrictions in place, such as setting a village-wide curfew of 9pm and requiring travelers to take a COVID-19 test before flying to Stebbins.

According to NSHC, this latest case makes nine currently active in the Norton Sound Region, which includes Nome’s case count as well. There is a total of 55 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region with 46 considered recovered.
