New COVID-19 cases in the Norton Sound region have been found every day for the past seven days. Within a week, Nome’s total number of active cases has jumped to 14.
According to a statement from Norton Sound Health Corporation late last night, three patients tested positive for the disease caused by the coronavirus on Monday.
Two of the new cases are Nome residents while the third is a non-resident of the Norton Sound.
NSHC says one resident and the non-resident tested positive through the City of Nome’s travel and quarantine requirements. The third patient is believed to be a close contact of a previously confirmed case of COVID-19 in Nome.
The regional health corporation says these three latest cases brings Nome’s total to 14 active cases of COVID-19.
