Third of Norton Sound Residents Vaccinated for COVID-19

Based on Norton Sound Health Corporation’s latest data, just under 7,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the Norton Sound.

NSHC updated their dashboard yesterday, showing the newest numbers. More than 3,000 residents of the region have been fully vaccinated at this point. That’s about a third of all Norton Sound residents and a decent portion of almost 131,000 individuals statewide who have received the vaccine.

According to the regional health corporation there are also still two active cases of COVID-19 in the Norton Sound. One is located in Nome while the other is in Koyuk. There have been 317 total confirmed coronavirus cases in the region since the pandemic began. 315 of those are considered recovered at this time.

So far, the Norton Sound region has no reported deaths related to COVID-19 and a total of six hospitalizations, based on NSHC’s data.
