Radio is a powerful spiritual tool. The work of the Holy Spirit in the world is often invisible: slowly moving people’s hearts toward Christ. Listening to the Spirit creates a patient endeavor for justice, compassion, and peace.
In a similar way, it is impossible to see the radio waves that transmit across Western Alaska. When announcers share a word of companionship and hope over the air, they can’t see the expression on a listener’s face, and the listener can’t see any of the equipment. Still, the Holy Spirit moves in the radio waves. Every time a word of hope finds the ears that need to hear them, or every time a listener feels a connection to their church, it’s the Spirit at work.
KNOM’s ministry can vary. One day, it may be playing music for children to dance to or producing inspirational spots that spark hope. The next day, it may be compiling practical announcements so people can hear about positive community events or reading a weather update that sparks a family fishing trip.
For Western Alaska listeners, that ministry would not be present without radio. Thank you!
