A very merry radio Christmas

Those tuning in to KNOM this December are in for a festive and joyous time full of radio traditions.

Throughout the Advent season, KNOM gradually introduces Christmas music into regular programming. The first week one Christmas song plays each hour, the second week there are two each hour, and the third week there are four. Finally in the days leading up to Christmas Day, Christmas music is playing 24/7 on the airwaves.

Listeners also get to hear original KNOM Christmas plays produced by former staff, volunteers and community members going back to the ‘70s. Most of the plays can be heard online at knom.org.

Right before the holiday starts, the station will also host the annual Christmas Call-In Show.

This is an opportunity for callers from all over the country to share heartfelt Christmas greetings for all of Western Alaska to hear. Many take the time to call and acknowledge their family, friends and loved ones near and far.
