Nome-Beltz Middle High School’s Richard Cross and Finn Gregg have been named to the 2023-24 All-State basketball first team by the Alaska Basketball Coaches Association. Both players played pivotal roles in NBHS’s recent triumph at the 3A State Championship held in Anchorage. Their victory at the state championship was the finale of a season that saw the Nanooks earn a 24-4 record.
Junior Finn Gregg added to his already-illustrious career at Nome-Beltz Middle High School, boasting averages of 17.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 2.61 steals per game. This is Gregg’s second nomination to the All-State team after previously earning the distinction in the 2022-23 season. Gregg currently sits in third place in all-time points scored for the Nanooks with 1,280 and will look to add to his record during his final season next year.
Senior Richard Cross averaged 13.6 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. In addition to earning the All-State distinction, Cross’ 1,075 points scored earned him the title of the 8th all-time leading scorer in Nome-Beltz Middle High School history.
