All resolutions and no ordinances are on the Nome City Council’s agenda tonight.
During its regular meeting, the Council is expected to pass a resolution supporting Alaska Native victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes. The resolution came before the City Council last month, but was postponed for a later date.
Another one of the seven resolutions on the docket lays out a contract between the Nome Chamber of Commerce and the City for the operation of the visitors’ center. If the Council passes the agreement, the Chamber will be paid $175,000 to manage the visitors’ center for the next year.
Before adjourning tonight’s session, the Council is also set to swear in two new City of Nome police officers.
A work session focused on combating domestic violence and sexual assault is scheduled to begin at 6pm in City Hall, with the regular meeting starting immediately afterwards.
