Eight cruise ship visits are scheduled for Nome this summer, down from 11 port calls in 2025.
The season begins June 18 with Holland America Line’s MS Noordam, which can carry up to 1,984 passengers. Because Nome does not yet have a deep-water dock for large cruise ships, passengers will be transported ashore by tender boats.
Returning visitors include the MS Roald Amundsen on Aug. 11, followed by the Hanseatic Inspiration on Aug. 13 and the National Geographic Resolution on Aug. 20. The Seabourn Venture is scheduled to visit on Aug. 25 and again on Sept. 2 as part of a 34-day Arctic voyage.
The MS Fridtjof Nansen will arrive Sept. 7, and the season concludes Sept. 16 with the Greg Mortimer, the smallest vessel of the year, carrying 126 passengers.
Each year, KNOM welcomes cruise ship visitors who stop by to learn about local radio in Western Alaska. If you’re visiting Nome this summer, be sure to stop in and say hello!
