Last night, Norton Sound Health Corporation announced six new cases of COVID-19 in the region. Four of them are Nome residents, one is a resident of the Norton Sound, and the last is a non-resident.

NSHC says these latest positive cases bring Nome’s count to 46 active cases, Three of the local patients are considered close contacts of a previously confirmed case of COVID-19, while the fourth is travel-related.

The regional resident case is also considered travel-related, although NSHC did not disclose which community they are from.

Additionally, a non-resident tested positive for the virus through their interaction with a previously confirmed case of COVID-19. NSHC says this patient was already in isolation when they were informed of their positive test result.

Even though not all of the latest cases are Nome residents, all six of them are currently isolating in Nome until they recover. This brings the Norton Sound’s COVID-19 case total to 232. 51 of those are currently active with at least 46 located in Nome. 181 are considered recovered.
