Two New COVID-19 Cases in Nome Found in Traveling Norton Sound Employees

A pair of positive COVID-19 cases were identified in Nome today. Norton Sound Health Corporation announced that both patients are NSHC employees who live in town.

According to NSHC, both individuals are safely isolating and will not be allowed to return to work until completing at least a seven-day quarantine with further COVID-19 testing.

The regional health corporation believes both cases are travel-related and do not indicate local spread of the virus within Norton Sound Regional Hospital.

The state section of Epidemiology and Public Health Nursing department have been notified of these two new cases and will investigate further.

NSHC recommends that regional residents limit their contact with others to just a few people, including those within your family and from outside groups.

The regional health corporation says this will make the contact tracing process easier and potentially limit any spread of the virus in the Norton Sound region.
