The main suspect for a recent break-in at the Nome Alaska Commercial Company store has been taken into custody. Nome Police announced earlier today that 19-year-old Christopher Gandia was arrested *Monday the 21st (a previous version of this story mistakenly said the arrest took place on Sunday, that has now been updated) and remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center.

According to a statement from NPD, before 6am Saturday morning, the department received a report that the local AC store was broken into. After police investigation it was discovered that an undetermined amount of alcohol, cigarettes, women’s clothing items, and various electronics were taken. In addition, some store windows and property were damaged.

NPD say a portion of the stolen property has since been recovered.

Gandia was arrested for charges of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief. His charges have been forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.
