I’ve been sharing fridge space with strangers since I was 13. From my boarding high school, to living in a college dormitory, and now a shared office kitchen, I’ve committed proper space-sharing etiquette to memory: label your food with name and date. Throw away expired food promptly. And never, EVER eat someone else’s food.
Well, even in Nome, Alaska, the KNOM kitchen is a familiar sight: we have our own modest, shared mini-fridge. And one morning, while I was desperately searching for some milk to put into my tea, I found a mysterious and unlabelled 32-oz. carton of half & half inside that fridge. What I did next, well, kiiiind of went against my training.
