Born outside Gambell, Nancy Walunga shared her story with KNOM’s Elder Voices in 2012, at the age of 85. Hear her speak in both Siberian Yup’ik and English. Nancy shares, “It’s important to let them know who you are, where you are from, your language.”

One Martinson on City Council, One Martinson on School Board, Unofficial Election Results Say

Unofficial vote tallies from Tuesday’s Municipal Election in Nome suggest most incumbents kept their seats, including Nome Mayor Richard Beneville. There were two exceptions: City Council Seat B challenger Doug Johnson, who defeated Louis Green Sr., and School Board Seat D challenger Sandy Martinson, who defeated Panganga Pungowiyi. In Tuesday’s only race with three candidates, Adam Martinson won for City Council Seat A.
