Nome Women Arrested for Possession of Heroin

A Nome woman reported to be in possession of heroin was intercepted in Anchorage Wednesday. Contact was made by the Anchorage Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team (WAANT).

According to Alaska State Troopers, the Nome WAANT communicated with the Anchorage WAANT regarding Katherine Olson, 25, of Nome and Shinell Englund, 30, of Washington state, who were suspected to be traveling to Nome.

Olson was arrested and remanded to the Anchorage jail for eleven counts of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance, for possession and distribution of heroin in Nome.

Olson was arraigned in state district court in Anchorage yesterday afternoon, and a preliminary hearing at the Nome Courthouse is set for next Thursday, August 24th, at 1:30 p.m.
