One year down, who knows how many more to come. KNOM Volunteer Davis Hovey has completed his volunteer year — and, consequently, his last audioblog.
During those 365 days and countless audioblogs, I have learned a lot about myself and the community that exists here in Western Alaska. As such, I’ve decided to use this last audioblog to share just a short list of things I’ve learned about Nome and the region. This is not even close to a comprehensive list, but I hope even if you already know these things that, perhaps, you’ll still learn something by listening to this week’s episode.
Thank you very much to everyone who has been tuning into these audioblogs over the course of a year; thank you for everyone who has produced them with me (shoutout to KNOM’s Lauren Frost, who will also no longer be making audioblogs); and a special thank you to anyone who I have met and spent time with here in Nome or in the region: you have impacted me more than you or I could truly know.
