An alleged heroin trafficker was arraigned in the Nome Courthouse last week.
24-year-old Zachary Bourdon of Nome was making his way to Anchorage on Friday, March 24th, when he was arrested on eleven counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the second and third degrees.
Cooperation between the Nome Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team (WAANT) and Alaska State Troopers in Nome resulted in the arrest. More than $7,000 of alleged drug money was obtained.
According to Troopers, Bourdon was identified earlier this month on March 1st as a primary target, suspected of transporting heroin to Nome from Anchorage and selling it. Joint operations between the Nome Police Department and State Troopers, such as purchasing heroin from Bourdon prior to his arrest, were ongoing this month.
After being remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center, Bourdon was arraigned Saturday, March 25th, in Nome and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 4th at the Nome Courthouse.
