Over the holiday weekend, an elder in the community of Unalakleet passed away at his home.
On Christmas Eve around 4pm, Alaska State Troopers were informed that Daniel Soxie of Unalakleet had been found by a friend, deceased, in his residence. Troopers believe Soxie died of natural causes.
An autopsy has not yet been completed, but the medical examiner released Soxie’s remains to his family. He was 87 years old.
