Two Challengers Vying for Nome City Councilman Culley’s Seat

The application period for candidates to enter their names on the ballot before the upcoming Nome municipal election has ended.

As of 5pm Tuesday, three candidates are running for Common Council Seat F, which is currently held by Matt Culley. Those candidates include Tom Okleasik, Mark Johnson, and Matt Culley. Jerald Brown is the lone candidate for Seat E.

Also up for election in October are two seats on the Utility Board and one seat on the School Board. Fred H. Moody and Wesley Perkins are vying for the two-year term of seat B on the Utility Board, while Chuck Wheeler is the only one person running for Seat D.

Barbara Amarok is the single name listed for School Board Seat E, which is a three-year commitment.

A candidate’s eligibility for office may be challenged before October 4th, the day of Nome’s municipal election, through a formal submission to the Nome City Clerk.
