Gambell Searchers Find Body Believed to Be Missing Woman


NOME, Alaska — On Monday, local searchers found a body several miles outside of Gambell. According to Alaska State Troopers, they believe it is Gladys Aningayou, a 21-year-old woman who went missing Thursday.

The body was discovered Monday around 11 p.m., and Aningayou’s next-of-kin were notified Tuesday.

The remains will be sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Anchorage to confirm the identity. Meanwhile, Troopers are investigating the death in Gambell with help from the Alaska Bureau of Investigation.

Anyone with information on Aningayou’s whereabouts after she went missing should contact the Alaska State Troopers.
