Gambell Community Searches For Missing Woman

NOME, Alaska — The community of Gambell and the Alaska State Troopers are searching for a 21-year-old woman who went missing last week.

Gladys Aningayou was last seen Thursday evening in Gambell, leaving a birthday party with a man. That’s according to Aningayou’s mother, Joann Kulukhon.

Kulukhon said Gambell residents searched the community on Sunday night, including abandoned buildings and camps, but they found no sign of Aningayou.

Troopers will join the search as soon as foggy weather clears over St. Lawrence Island. Until then, anyone with information on Aningayou’s whereabouts should contact the Alaska State Troopers or the Nome Police Department.

Aningayou was last seen wearing black sweatpants and a light green jacket with white patches.
