Nanooks Wrestlers Close Season at State; Basketball Opens Season at Home

Nome wrestlers headed to Anchorage for the State Division II and Girls’ Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday, while Nome basketball hosted Galena on Thursday and Friday.

The Nome-Beltz Nanooks wrestling team hosted schools from around the region for the Northern Conference Wrestling Tournament over the weekend. The top two wrestlers in each weight class qualified for the 1A/2A/3A State Wrestling Tournament.

Nome and Kotzebue led the tallies at Kotzebue’s Bush Brawl Tournament, while Unalakleet fought to victory at home in the Unalakleet Mixed-Six Smash Classic.
