City Council to Continue Conversation on Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence

During its regular meeting, the Nome City Council is expected to pass a resolution supporting Alaska Native victims of sexual assault and other violent crimes. The resolution came before the Council last month but had been postponed for a later date.
In Public Hearing, Nome City Council to Discuss “Nuisance” Properties

New business on the Council’s agenda includes hosting a public hearing on a resolution to declare certain buildings in city limits as fire or health hazards, and/or public nuisances. If this resolution is passed, then the City of Nome could be authorized to demolish at least four properties.
Nome City Council Approves Fuel Contracts, Project Bids, and New Emergency Services Technician

The City of Nome will pay Crowley $3.37 per gallon for unleaded vehicle fuel and $2.95 for diesel, but Bonanza will provide equipment fuel and heating oil. Also, the City Council approved a resolution to employ Quinten Johnson as the emergency services technician.

Unwanted animals in Nome can now be surrendered to Animal Control for $40. The animals must be more than ten weeks old, and the owner must have proof of all current vaccinations and provide an affidavit that the animal is not aggressive.
