Firefighters Contain Blaze Near Golovin

Firefighters arrived on the scene last Friday after reports of smoke from Golovin. They contained the 12-acre fire by Sunday, preventing any damage to property or life.

Golovin Resident Dies in ATV Rollover

According to Alaska State Troopers, 47-year-old Rachel Olson of Golovin was driving an ATV Tuesday, during the early morning hours. Troopers were notified around 1:45am Tuesday that Olson had died when her ATV rolled over. Nome-based State Troopers responded to the incident. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
