After First Place at Big West, Lady Nanooks Set to Run State Meet

After their win at the Big West Conference last weekend, the entire Nome Lady Nanooks Cross Country team has qualified for the state meet in Anchorage on Sep. 29.

Twenty-two athletes represented the Bering Strait, Nome and Kotzebue school districts at the 1A/2A/3A State Championships in Anchorage on Saturday. Not only was it great competition, the Nome co-head coach says, the students also made “memories that they’re going to remember.”

Teams from Kotzebue, Teller, White Mountain, and Savoonga visited Nome for the Nome Cross-Country Invite. And the Kotzebue Huskies volleyball team hosted the Nome Nanooks, resulting in a Kotzebue win.
