Maj. Gen. Laurie Hummel and her entourage are touring Western Alaska this week. Among some, the trip is evoking memories of how the US military presence in Alaska has changed over time — as well as the loose ends, especially with the Alaska Territorial Guard, still to be tied.
Graphite One Says Their Western Alaska Mine Could Yield $1 Billion

Graphite One says the proposed mine, near Teller, could yield a value of more than $1 billion and provide more than 4 million tons of material each year.
