Students with 4.0 and 3.0+ grade point averages from Nome-Beltz and ANSEP Acceleration Academy were recognized at a potluck in the Nanook Den Thursday. The recipients earned the academic distinction during the Spring 2026 semester.
"A 4.0 doesn't happen by accident, Honor Roll happens because we make hundreds of choices that lead you to a certain moment. That's Honor Roll," Nome-Beltz Principal, Teriscovkya Smith, said to the crowd of students and their families.
The spring Honor Roll celebration is new this year. In the past, the school calendar meant students were recognized only in the fall. Smith said the campuses wanted to expand that recognition to acknowledge students’ hard work throughout the year.
The ANSEP Acceleration Academy opened to Nome students last fall. The single-classroom campus is a branch of the University of Alaska and is based at the university's Northwest Campus this year. The students recognized at the ceremony were among the first cohort in Nome to take college-level courses while meeting high school graduation requirements.
