Commercial marijuana is a piece of new business on the Nome City Council’s docket for Monday night’s City Council meeting.
A resolution could be approved at tonight’s meeting allowing City Clerk Bryant Hammond to file a formal protest with the State of Alaska Alcohol and Marijuana Control office regarding commercial marijuana license applications.
Another resolution, if passed, would deem certain properties in Nome hazards or public nuisances and could authorize these properties to be remediated, removed, or even demolished. The council will hold a work session before the meeting as a public hearing focused on comments related to building abatements.
Right before the councilmen adjourn the regular meeting, Nome’s mayor will announce a new appointee to a seat on the Museum and Library Commission.
Tonight’s work session on building abatements will begin at 5:30; the regular city council meeting will commence at 7:00pm in City Hall.
