Nome-Beltz Alumna to Become Principal of Elementary School

For the first time ever, a Nome-Beltz graduate will serve as principal of Nome Elementary School. Elizabeth Korenek-Johnson started her Nome education in 1983 and graduated with the class of 1996.

She went on to graduate from Pacific Lutheran University, majoring in Spanish with a BAE in elementary education and a minor in special education.

After college, she taught at Nome Public Schools. Korenek-Johnson, or “Mrs. K-J,” as some call her, has been a teacher in Nome for the past 16 years.

In addition to becoming principal of Nome Elementary, she is also currently getting her Masters of Education in Educational Leadership through the University of Alaska-Southeast.

Elizabeth Korenek-Johnson will begin as principal in the fall of this year.
