Volunteer
Volunteering Off-Air
If you love radio, but you don't want to be on the air, KNOM is always looking for helpers around the station. Opportunities include, but are not limited to: assisting with local language pronunciation guides, sharing history and context for local/regional Alaska Native music recordings, organizing vinyl records and CDs, painting, cleaning, and property maintenance.
Community volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, complete a brief application, and have a clear background check to serve at KNOM.
Short Term Volunteers
KNOM welcomes short-term volunteers to live the mission in a variety of capacities around the station - whether a work weekend, school break, or a season of service. Individuals, families, and church groups are welcome to apply.
All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, complete a KNOM volunteer application, and receive a clear background check prior to serving as a volunteer.
If you are traveling from outside the Nome area, volunteers are responsible for airfare and obtaining lodging during their stay. KNOM encourages connecting with local churches or city hospitality.
Have you dreamed of being a radio announcer?
KNOM is always looking for community members to serve as a friend and companion on the airwaves. Please e-mail us to learn more and to get on the schedule for the next training opportunity with KNOM's Program Director Tate Coler.
