Nome City Council and School Board To Go Over First NPS Budget Draft for FY’19

Nome’s City Council could authorize a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) survey at the Nome Municipal Cemetery during tonight’s regular meeting.

A resolution on the Council’s agenda, intends to award the survey project to Logic Geophysics & Analytics for roughly $68,000. If the Council gives the go ahead for City Manager Tom Moran to enter into agreement with the cemetery surveyors, then the final report from the GPR survey won’t be ready till the end of July.

Other new business before the Council is a resolution to declare February as School Board recognition month in Nome. Coinciding with this month, the preliminary discussions regarding Nome Public Schools’ budget are also happening in Council Chambers.

During a work session, the City Council is scheduled to go over NPS’s first draft of their nearly $7-million budget. Potential revisions to the 2018 Port Tariffs for over-side fueling transfers is also a topic of discussion for the work session.

Tonight’s City Council regular meeting begins at 7pm in City Hall, immediately following the conclusion of a 5:15pm work session.
