Dear Friend…(February 2026)

Sports define late winter in Western Alaska. Communities rally around their sons and daughters on the basketball court and cheer on snowmachiners and mushers racing across the endless wilderness. Meanwhile, Christians around the world embark on a race of their own this month.

The forty days of Lent can often feel like drudgery, but just as athletes endure countless hours of training for their moment of glory on the court or at the finish line, our daily practice of prayer, sacrifice, and charity will ultimately carry us through to celebrate Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday.

As always, KNOM is an ever-present friend and companion to all Western Alaskans as they run their own races, whether literal, personal, emotional, or spiritual, and thanks to your help, so are you! KNOM could not support this beautiful community without your friendship. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for cheering on KNOM and Western Alaska! If you ever want to say hello, feel free to drop us a line, by phone at 907-868-1200 or by email at belong@knom.org. We would love to hear from you!
