We were heartbroken to learn of the tragedy involving Bering Air Flight 445. As a news organization, we were alerted early—shortly after the plane went missing. We held on to hope, believing it might have been a technical issue or that the flight had safely landed. But as time passed, the reality became clear.

This loss has deeply affected our team. Over half of KNOM’s staff call Nome or the surrounding region home, and this tragedy has touched us personally. We grieve alongside our communities, remembering those lost and holding their loved ones in our hearts.

The outpouring of support from across the world has been overwhelming. In times like these, we are reminded of the strength and resilience of western Alaska. We are honored by the trust our donors, supporters, and listeners place in us—to be a voice of comfort, connection, and hope for our region.

With heartfelt prayers and deepest sympathy,

Miranda B. Musich, General Manager
