Dear Friend…(March 2025)

Paczkis! Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) falls on March 4th this year. For centuries, Polish Catholics have celebrated this day by making pączki—round, sugar-coated pastries filled with sweet jelly. Traditionally, this was a way to use up rich ingredients like lard, eggs, and sugar before Lent, a season of fasting and reflection.

Lent is more than just giving up certain foods or habits. It’s like spring cleaning for the soul. It is to clear away distractions and focus on what truly matters. Through prayer, fasting, and acts of kindness, people grow in faith and strengthen their relationship with God. By setting aside worldly distractions, we make space for gratitude, love, and deeper self-awareness.

On March 5th, KNOM Radio Mission will broadcast the special Ash Wednesday Mass at noon. The liturgy for this Holy Day will feature inspirational prayers, reflections, reminders of fasting, and virtual ashes reaching remote areas of Western Alaska to mark the first day of Lent.

We are grateful for your continued support as we work to serve our community through faith and broadcasting. We would love to hear from you, YOU are always in our prayers.
