Anchorage studio operational

Engineer Van Craft connects the final wrires for KNOM’s studio in Anchorage.

After nearly a year of equipment research, and many weekend and evenings hours, KNOM’s new studio in Anchorage is now operational!

The project is a direct result of generous earmarked contributions from people all across the country. We cannot say a “thank you” big enough.

One story stands out. Just as the required technical specifications and price of shipping equipment inflated the project past the estimated price tag, a good friend in Ohio called. His wife, Pat, had passed a month earlier, and he wanted to honor her memory with a gift to KNOM. The remote studio will be dedicated in her memory.

The studio addition is a big step to equipping the mission for future sustainability and growth. Thanks to you, we can benefit from the talents of volunteers and remote staff based on Alaska’s ‘road system’, freeing up KNOM’s Nome-based staff to focus on sharing the stories and voices of Western Alaska.
