In Inupiaq culture, where humor is a foundational value, fun has deep meaning. Good jokes can keep darkness at bay and mend frayed relationships. It breaks apart tension and creates unity.

On a deeper level, joy is a sign of a heart free of bitterness and resentment. When we approach our neighbors with a smile and bit of humor, doors to trust and healing open. Spreading joy can be a holy task.
