Iron Dog restarts from Nome Feb. 23

Tyler Alkestad and Nick Oldster ready to leave Nome

The Iron Dog racers returned to the trail on Feb. 23. Tyler Aklestad and Nick Olstad led the pack out of Nome at 8 a.m. Casey Boylan and Bryan Leslie were scheduled to leave second at 8:45 a.m., but made the decision to scratch out before setting off. Leslie was injured on the way into Nome, according to an Iron Dog press release. Mike Morgan and Chris Olds departed at 9:13 a.m.

After Morgan and Olds, the next team didn’t depart for nearly a full hour. Shane Barber and Troy Conlon hit the trail at 10:08 a.m., then Andrew Gumley and Klinton VanWingerden followed 25 minutes later, at 10:33 a.m. Nome-based racers Jarvis and Jordan Miller set off at 12:29 p.m.

Departures continue until Bret Bohn and Tommy Germany head out at 2:16 p.m. They are the final team to hit the trail. A full list of Nome departure times is available on the Iron Dog website.
